For a new residential building in Antwerp, microbeton will produce fifty spacious lightweight balconies.
The Doktoren in Antwerp will be an 81m high residential tower of 156 apartments on 22 floors. It will be a new landmark due to its urban orientation and F-shaped structure next to the ZNA hospital. The tower will be crowned by a large roof terrace with greenery that is partly accessible to the residents. The building will be next to the hospital and the Kempisch Dok. The Doktoren offers affordable apartments with 1, 2 or three bedrooms. On the first floor will be a commercial space occupied by the nearby hospital ZNA.
One of the big eye-catchers of the Doctors is the greenery that will come at an exceptional height. On top of the new residential complex of 23 floors, a number of large trees will be placed at a height of 80 meters. This will make the Doktoren the tallest tree park in the city of Antwerp.
LIGHTWEIGHT BALCONIES MADE OF FERROCEMENT
For the Doktoren in Antwerp, we will produce various spacious lightweight balconies of ferrocement with EPS core on behalf of Immpact Development. A total of 50 lightweight balconies will be assembled to the facades by means of the tube system. The balustrades are pre-assembled on the balcony plates. Next, the balconies are slid over the steel consoles and mounted in their entirety.
microbeton has extensive experience in the production of lightweight balconies made of ferrocement. microbeton produces two types of balconies. Thin and slender balcony elements from 25 mm – up to 150 mm (steel reinforced) and lightweight balcony elements with a core of EPS from 150 mm. For example, microbeton produced slender and lightweight balconies for the Kanaaleilanden in Utrecht. These balcony slabs were placed on a steel frame. For the transformation of the Wijnhavenkwartier in The Hague, microbeton produced the lightweight balconies with EPS core.
