From city hall to an apartment complex

The former town hall of Almelo is being transformed into an apartment complex. For this transformation project, microbeton will produce all lightweight balconies.

HET STADS-HUIS

Where civil servants used to prepare passports and hold meetings about the direction of Almelo, a new residential and living environment is now being created: the City House. The old city hall will be transformed into 90 unique townhouses, flats, maisonettes and lofts with a balcony or outdoor terrace. They will all be delivered very completely so that only a little is left for you to finish the houses according to your wishes. The flats have a nice outdoor space. The design differs per flat. There are balconies of 8m2 and true outdoor terraces of 20m2.

The town hall dates from the 1970s. It is being rebuilt in the style of architect J.J.P. Oud, who also designed the monument on Dam Square, among other things. On the outside, balconies will be playfully constructed on the new façade. On the inside, the building will be completely new and sustainable.

LIGHTWEIGHT BALCONIES

For this project, microbeton will produce 39 lightweight balconies with EPS. The balconies will be mounted on the facades according to the patented tube system. Steel constructive beams are attached to the floor plate, over which the balconies are slid. Due to the EPS core, the balconies are 60% lighter compared to traditional concrete.

MORE PROJECTS OF MICROBETON

microbeton has extensive experience in the production of lightweight balconies. For example, microbeton has produced lightweight balconies for a transformation project in The Hague and for the RoemersHuys in Leeuwarden. For luxury flats in the lively centre of Arnhem, microbeton supplied lightweight elements for the cantilevering galleries.
